Fiber Art Network selected this basket out of more than 200 entries to be included alongside 19 other works for their “Emerging Artists 2020” exhibition. Featured in Fiber Art Now Magazine.
With this basket I tried to push the limits of undulating shape inspired by memories of seeing so many Roman amphora in Italy.
I also experimented with a technique I developed to expose the spokes in sections that are double wall, combined with sections that are single wall weaving. And, this basket has a multi stage rim where the outer wall wraps around an inner wall.
