This basket was woven as a gift for my son John. He worked for years on voter engagement, voter rights, and other political issues in Mississippi.
I thought a flag basket would be a nice remembrance of the voting work he has done thus far.
I made the blue star area the same proportion to the red and white stripes as it would be on an American flag of this size.
